"What do killer bees and global warming have in common?" you ask, well, I'll be pleased to tell you! Because, you know, that's where I'm heading. When I was a teen I was petrified. First off because I watched the news, and scientists were telling everyone that we were headed for another ice age. In my mind, I was wondering if by the time that happened, would we be able to have more energy, more heat to heat our homes, or are we just going to be frozen, dead, in our beds or something. Or, maybe like in the movie Logan's Run, people lived in a dome. Maybe, "they'll" build warm domes over cities, and we won't all freeze to death then.
Well, then mysteriously after a while, I didn't hear about the new ice age anymore. Here I was scared out of my mind, and no one is talking about it anymore. "?????" says I. This is BIG news still to me. Why is it though, that when people are wrong they don't have to say it?
Anyway, seemed like right away there was a new problem, killer bees. Flying in from Mexico or South America. They were headed for the U.S., and were hopping mad, many people were going to die. I figured that they were super killer bees, since after flying over from whichever country, they were still going to be able to sting people to their deaths. I had visions of bees tearing open screens, coming into peoples houses and stinging them to death. I was so terrified, that I wouldn't even open the windows in the summer. We didn't have air conditioning, so you can see my sacrifice to fear.
What does this have to do with global warming? Well, I believe John Stossel was right when he said that the media hypes all sorts of fears. What will the new fear be after global warming? When global warming turns out to be a hoax, then will anyone apologize? Do these people think of the fearful children they create? I don't know, but I do know, that I don't take things the media says and turn it into reality. I wait awhile, read some facts, make choices that way, because the last straw for me, was when I read that apples were bad for us. Now, theres killer apples. These same apples that for years were supposed to be sooooo good for you that they'd keep the doctor away, were now going to end your life! That's when I decided that maybe all the stuff that gets hyped out there is just a bunch of fear mongering. Perhaps that's all that global warming is? People trying to scare people for their own reasons. Remember Y2K? Need I say more?
