I said the magic words, and voila! Here I am, blogging again. I think to blog here, you have to take a few deep breaths, and be very patient.
Anyway, I think I've figured out the problem with politicians. I know how we can get them to make decisions faster. I came up with this brainstorm after watching the Bishops elect a new pope. What a novel idea that some king came up with. Lock them all up in a room together and don't let them out until they decided a new pope. Wow!!! I then thought, that could work for congress!
Can you imagine if the president locked them all in a room together? They can't come out until they come up with some solutions to some of the problems here. For starters, every election, health care. Now, I'm not hearing too much about healthcare right now, but I have a sneaking suspicion, that next year we are going to hear much more about it. (think election year). However, what if the president says, well, I want some ideas, some plans to counter the problem. You know how the politicians get, they start working the press, posturing for position, and nothing gets done.
Well, to counter that, the president, locks them all in a big room, and they can't come out until they light the fireplace, to where the whole country will be looking for the smoke to rise from the building, letting us know that some plans have been made. That this issue will have been taken care of, and we, us citizens can be happy cause something got done today.
No vacations for them, no leaving town, no lobbying, no press conferences. Just something done towards solving the problems. Maybe no paycheck either. That in itself would be a novel idea! I was also thinking that to make it fair, that the members of congress pass a bill, that would limit their terms to two years too. New blood every now and then could do wonders for this country. Everyone of us has ideas, no fun that only the rich few get to decide things all the time. Plus, hate to say it, but what do they really know anyway? Doesn't look like much sometimes.
When I think of the rich people making all the decions for us "poor, stupid" people, I think of the movie Titanic. I think of the sinking ship, and the "poor, stupid" people with the rats, locked below deck while the more important people are put in the life boats. I always wonder, when at the end of the movie, you see some of the rich, snobs, sad about the "poor, stupid" peoples death screams, I wonder, did they really care? Or was it to take the sting away that they didn't care for anyone but themselves? Do the rich, snobs care anything about us "poor, stupid" people, or do they just care for themselves, and do we have to find out the truth the hard way?
Well, they say, where theres smoke, there's fire, I think that Mr. President should light a fire under congresses butt (ahem) and lets get something done, before there aren't anymore life boats left for me!
